At Sports Chaplaincy Australia, we believe in the power of playing the ‘long game’. To inspire you, we want to share with you some stories of how far we’ve already come.
“I’m an introvert by nature, but I thought I had a call and God had put it on my heart telling me that I could do this. He was going to be there to help me and put me in the right place at the right time.“
Saturdays were a busy day for Kylie.
Her husband and children all played soccer and she would end up spending the whole day watching them play and talking to the others who were around.
One of her friends thought she would make a great chaplain and asked her to consider becoming a chaplain where she was already spending her time. Kylie went down to the fields and watched everyone playing soccer and felt like she really wanted to care for them even though she didn’t know them.
Kylie has now been a chaplain for over four years and during this time God has definitely put her in the right place at the right time. She has cared for those impacted by sudden deaths, and near deaths, and helps those with needs and their general wellbeing.
Her impact is now growing and has been appointed as the Association Chaplain for Football New South Wales where she is making an impact with the up-and coming elite players. Kylie wants to encourage those who are already involved in their local club to consider becoming a chaplain and making a greater impact.
